Local Designer Spotlight : Melissa Taylor

Melissa Taylor; an artist and fashion designer who currently resides in Dallas, TX. SBC recently had the pleasure of meeting up with Melissa to learn more about her as a designer, where she draws her inspiration from, and her stunning custom pieces. Let’s take a look!

Before landing in the Lone Star State, Melissa lived in Virginia, Ukraine, and Indiana. Her different residences have been a huge draw for her inspiration when designing her pieces. Landing in Dallas, Melissa had her first solo fashion show and the SBC team was there to witness the dreamy yet functional line. When talking with Melissa, she made it known that she wanted to bring high quality, bespoke, structured, garments to the Dallas scene and aim to connect with others who loved structure and design. While knowing there are plenty of big name designers who can do just that, Melissa has an authentic touch that she adds to her pieces. Not only are all of her garments hand made and pieces dyed, but they are created to bridge the two worlds of dreamy and brooding into the presence of her garments. Each piece brings a new conversation to the forefront. The drapery that is hand dyed  from charmeuse & chiffon; inspired by the ocean. The dark and dreamy pieces that  are structured and show a world that is chaotic yet beautiful.

Melissa's goal is for people to find and support her brand so she can start producing on a larger scale and giving people the option to wear her pieces multiple ways for different occasions.
