FGI Communique : fall + winter 2022 trends

First off, I want to say what a whirlwind it was to curate and execute the 2022 “FGI - Communique Fall + Winter Trends” fashion show! Before I give you an exclusive sneak peek into the night, let me explain who we are.

Communique is an exclusive NYFW report that captures and highlights influencers, designers, and significant style, color, and of course, fashion trends. One of the beautiful aspects of Communique is its desire to feature new talent that brings a fresh perspective to the fashion world.

When this opportunity fell into my lap, I knew right away I wanted to showcase and highlight Dallas Designers, such as Isabel Marant, Ferrah, Vintage Consignment, Scotch & Soda & Tootsies.

As an FGI Dallas board member, it is my responsibility to find the Dallas gems, and show them off to the world. What better way to showcase designers, than a fashion show?! I searched and found the ones who truly capture the top trends we hand-selected for Fall and Winter 2022.

Now time for the things you’ve been waiting for, THE TRENDS!

This upcoming Fall and Winter, you can expect to see…

Tailoring : Tailoring takes on a gender-fluid approach, where tailored suits can be found on both men and women. We love a trend in that men and women can both feel comfortable and chic. You can rock the tailored look with patterns, neutrals, colors, and solid prints, the options are endless with this timeless trend.

Designers to look out for in “Tailoring”: Louis Vuitton, Terry Singh, Helen Anthony, Erdem, and Concept Korea

Models Wearing: Isabel Marant, Scotch & Soda, Isabel Marant

Drapery: She is a modern goddess, this trend is fabulous in every way, plus with knots, twists, and ties, it is perfect for accentuating all silhouettes. Drapery will make you feel like a goddess, and boost your confidence to new heights. For my ladies who want to feel like a goddess, but may want a little coverage over it, you can pair a drapery top, dress with a leather jacket, blazers, or a fitted long sleeve mock turtleneck underneath.

Designers to look out for in “Drapery”: Stella McCartney and Loewe

Models Wearing: Tootsies, Ferrah, Vintage Consignment

Fringe : We all love a fringe look, especially here in Texas. Although this trend is applicable in any state, and can be taken from day to night. Fringe is effortless, yet elevates any look. This year, fringe is not limited, you can see fringe in silky lengths, macrame, or sparkling crystal strands (is it just me, or can y’all picture crystal strand fringe on a red carpet dress?)

Designers to look out for in “Fringe”: Jason Wu, Patbo, and Jonathan Simkhai

Models Wearing: Tootsies & Vintage Consignment

So Shocking Trend: Ladies and gentlemen color is here and she is not going anywhere! In today’s world, color symbolizes the good, the joyous, the “I am not cooped up in my house”, it is time for us to make a statement more than ever. Color blocking will be strong this fall and winter, you can expect to see oranges, greens, yellow, purple, and pinks. How will you use color this year?

Designers to look out for in “So Shocking”: Prada, Poster Girl, Stella McCartney, Eduon Choi

Models Wearing: Vintage Consignment, Tootsies, Scotch & Soda

Florals: Florals are not just for spring this year, they will be blooming this fall and winter as well. Florals can be paired with all kinds of prints or solids and this fall it’s all about layers! For all of my girlies out there, florals are not exclusively a spring or summer print- they are now an all-year trend. If you are hesitant to jump on the floral trend, try using it in accents like a scarf, leather belt, or even as an embellishment on a shoe.

Designers to look out for in “Florals”: Bmuette, Richard Quinn, Moschino, La Fuori, Oscar De La Renta

Models Wearing,: Scotch & Soda, Scotch & Soda, Tootsies, Isabel Marant

Something Arty: Fashion is ART, in my humble opinion the most expressive work of art. Fashion is the way that anyone and everyone can express themselves. This upcoming fall and winter season, art is coming off the walls and hitting garments. You can expect to see art on shirts, dresses, and jackets just to name a few.

Designers to look out for in “Something Arty”: Stella McCartney, Louis Vuitton, Paul Smith, Alexander McQueen, Akris

Models wearing: Vintage Consignment

Corset: Corsets have found their way into the modern world, through either tv shows, movies, or celebrities. They have most definitely found their way into fall and winter this year, especially in colors like soft pinks, or peachy hues. Corsets are giving romantic, chic, and old hollywood feels (especially paired with opera gloves.. Can you say lady bridgerton?)

Designers to look out for in “Corset”: Dior, Burberry, Richard Quinn, Versace
